Lebanon woman arrested, suspected of harming child

From Post staff reports

A Lebanon woman was arrested Thursday, suspected of tampering with her 4-year-old son’s IV in an attempt to harm the child.

Julie Ann Hardin, 38, of Callis Road, Lebanon, has been charged with felony aggravated assault. She was arrested Thursday by detectives with Metro Nashville Police Youth Services at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital for allegedly intentionally attempting to harm her son by trying to inject saline into his IV line.

Detectives began investigating the case on Wednesday after the staff at the hospital notified police of issues related to the condition of Hardin’s chronically ill son. The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at the child’s hospital room on Thursday. Hardin, in an interview with authorities, reportedly admitted to attempting to tamper with her son’s IV for the purpose of harming him.

Additional charges may be filed against Hardin as the investigation continues, a news release from Metro Nashville Police Department said.

Hardin’s bond was set at $7,500. She was released from jail on Friday.
