LHS announces soccer coach

A native of Arima, Trinidad, Villafana earned a degree in criminal justice from Cumberland and played in the National Premier Soccer League with Rocket City United -- based in Huntsville, AL."Kempess really loves the game," Brown said, "he suffered a serious knee injury playing with his club team that pretty much cost him a year of competition at Cumberland. He's channeled that energy into coaching."Prior to the injury, Villafana led the Bulldogs in scoring as a sophomore in 2008 and ranked seventh nationally in shots on goal. In the two years prior to his injury, he played in 28 consecutive matches.Brown went on to say that Villafana had already conducted tryouts for the 2013 girls team at LHS and that several athletes who played travel ball were opting to return to the varsity program. The numbers will be up for our girls team this fall, Brown said, several of our kids were already familiar with him due to his time as a travel team coach. I expect well see more participation for our guys next spring as well.
