LHS hosts 9AAA tourney Monday

No. 2 seeded Portland will take on No. 7 seeded Station Camp at 5:30 p.m. followed by No. 3 seed Wilson Central vs. No. 6 Hendersonville at 7 p.m.

Semifinalplay is set Tuesday at 5 and 6:30 p.m., followed by the finals Thursday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m.

FCS plays in Mid-Tenn ClassicDefending Class A state champion Friendship Christian School will be one of 40 volleyball teams competing Friday and Saturday in the Mid-Tenn Classic at A-Game Sportsplex in Cool Springs. The Lady Commanders, now 44-2, are in a pool with Red Bank, Sale Creek, Germantown and Oakland.

Pool matches are set for Friday at 3 (vs. Oakland) and 4 p.m. (vs. Sale Creek) followed by two more Saturday at 8 (vs. Germantown) and 10 a.m. (vs. Red Bank). The elimination phase of the tournament will get started at 12 Noon.

Defending Division II-AA champion Ensworth as well as 2011 Class AA runner-up Goodpasture are playing in the tournament along with powerful St. Agnes of Memphis and Lone Oak High from Kentucky.

FCS split a pair of matches Wednesday in Murfreesboro -- defeating Blackman 2-0, then losing to Siegel 2-0.

Mt. Julietsweeps BisonSHACKLE ISLAND -- Mt. Juliet improved to 28-6 overall and maintained a stranglehold on first place in District 9AAA with a 3-0 win Tuesday at Beech. Game scores: 25-17, 25-10 and 26-24 as the Lady Bears upped their league record to 13-0.

Halle Raines had 23 assists while Ryann Amity has 11 kills and two blocks.

Portland 3, Wilson Central 0PORTLAND -- Wilson Central fell to 21-13 overall and third place in District 9AAA following Tuesday's 3-0 loss at Portland. Game scores: 23-25, 22-25 and 23-25.

Dariyan Stallings paced the Lady Wildcats with eight kills and 14 digs. Amy Trice had 21 assists and 13 digs.

Oakland 3, Lebanon 1MURFREESBORO -- Lebanon slid to 7-11 overall following a 3-1 loss Wednesday at Oakland. LHS won the first game 27-27, then lost 25-18, 25-18 and 30-28.

On Tuesday, Lebanon dropped to 5-8 in District 9AAA following a 3-0 home loss to Beech. Game scores: 22-25, 24-26 and 19-25. Alex Britt paced the Devilettes with 11 kills, a dig and three blocks. Veronica White finished with five kills, five digs and a block while Kelsey Yarbrough had four kills and nine digs. Tatum Thompson passed out 15 assists, had a kill, served three aces and had 10 digs. Andi Carney had two kills and 12 digs.
