LHS visits Mt. Juliet in 2012 opener

Mt. Juliet won the 2011 game 38-13 at Nokes-Lasater Field, 48-20 in 2010 and 52-13 in 2009. Lebanons last victory in the series was a 41-21 decision at Mt. Juliet in 2008.


Blue notes -- Former Mt. Juliet Christian Academy head coach Mark Harrison is a recent addition to the Blue Devil coaching staff. Harrison will coach the ninth grade team as well as the varsity running backs.


He fills a position that opened with the recent resignation of Curt Bureau who took a job at Riverdale High as quarterback coach.


Junior Nolan Sanders is expected to start at right offensive tackle tonight after having battled a preseason knee injury.


Bear tracks -- Mt. Juliet returns a pair of 1,000 yard rushers in the person of fullback Contrez McCathern and halfback Caleb Hopkins -- both seniors. Soph Nolan Chowbay will be under center at QB after having understudied for his brother Caleb in 2011. His top receiver figures to be senior split end Jalen Graham.


Friendship at DCA -- Defending Class 2A state champ Friendship Christian opens tonight at Donelson Christian Academy. Transfer junior QB AJ Long will be the triggerman for the Commanders while senior Cale Mitchell will be a key element in the offense, defense and special teams. Seniors Tanner Martin and Ian Isbell will anchor the offensive line.


Wilson Central at Gallatin -- After a couple of weeks of questions surrounding the Sumner County budget, the Wildcats found out Tuesdaynight season-opener at Gallatin would be played after all. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at newly-named Calvin Short Field.


Watertown at Cannon Co. -- Watertowns Purple Tigers travel to Woodbury tonight to take on Cannon County High. Junior QB Ty Jobe and senior tailback Brannon Hill pace the Tiger offense.


MJCA at Community -- First year head coach Jake Roberts will be at the helm as Mt. Juliet Christian plays in Unionville vs. Community High.
