Lloyd Elkin Brown, 57
LEBANON -- Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, October 9 at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home for Mr. Brown, 57, of Lebanon.
A fulltime English Professor at Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin since 2004, Mr. Brown died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 at his residence.
He was born in Washington, DC, February 24, 1951, son of the late Colonel Harvey Lloyd Brown and Lucy Elkin Scott Brown. Mr. Brown graduated from Lebanon High School in 1969, Cumberland College (1971, A.A.) and received his Master of Arts in English from Middle Tennessee State University.
A gifted guitarist, he was a member of the Leeville United Methodist Church, Watertown Arts Guild, The Sierra Club and Amnesty International.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. and Thursday after 10 a.m.
Services will be conducted by Rev. Roland Scruggs. Interment will be in the Leeville Cemetery.
Survivors include: his wife Billye Bryant Brown; son Casey Brown of Murfreesboro and sister-in-law Clara Bryant.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Harvey LeGrand Brown.
Pallbearers will include: Chip Flippen, David Johnson, Mike Singleton, Wesley Neeley, Roger Holman, David Coe and Dustin Napier.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Wilson County Humane Association.
