Lebanon Police arrested and charged a man early Friday morning, June 13 suspected of breaking into a local pawn shop and stealing a rifle.
The incident occurred about 4:34 a.m. Officers responded to a call of a suspicious person near Kwik Cash Pawn Shop at 428 East Main Street.
During the response, a glass break alarm was received from the business. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered that the front glass to the business was broken out.
During a search of the immediate area by Sgt. Titus Kelley, a white male suspect was found lying behind a concrete barrier near 500 East Main Street. Kelley gave the suspect, identified as Ian D. Lavalley, 18, of 155 Walker Lane, Lebanon, several verbal commands. Lavalley, however, reportedly refused to obey the commands and took off running.
After a short foot pursuit, Lavalley was taken into custody. Officers recovered a Remington rifle which was reportedly taken from the burglary, in the area where the suspect was first located.
Lavalley has been charged with Burglary and Resisting Arrest. He was booked into the Wilson County Jail on a total bond of $5,000 ($2,500 for each charge).
