Roberts said Shaffer was formerly a classroom teacher with the LSSD and then was a technology administrator with the district. Roberts said Shaffer brings a wealth of experience with children of all ages and a great background in technology.
Castle Heights Upper Elementary will drop the "Upper" tag after this school year when the district reorganizes with the addition of Winfree-Bryant Middle School. Students in grades K-4 will attend Castle Heights Elementary beginning with the 2011-2012 school year.
Brown, head football coach at LHS for nine years, was chosen to fill the position of assistant principal at WJB beginning with the 2011-2012 school year.
"Donna and Bobby both bring experience as administrators," Roberts said of the new hires.
Roberts said Brown’s experience at the high school level will go a long way toward preparing students in middle school for that next step in their lives and education. She said Brown was an ideal candidate for the job after the district sifted through many applicants and a detailed interview process.
Brown and Shaffer will join their other administrators this summer in preparing for the coming school year. Neither Brown nor Shaffer could be reached for comment on this story as of press time Thursday.
