Market Street Church of Christ and a number of other churches within the community are participating in the fundraiser.
The event this year is to honor Lisa Hurd Seay, Ruth Harper (mother of Lori Jack- Seay), and Shareeta Keely. For those attending there will be a delicious lunch and an afternoon of entertainment featuring a program that includes testimonials by cancer survivors and several inspirational music entertainers. All attending are asked to wear the color pink in support of the event.
Appearing on the afternoon program will be Lori Jack-Seay and Johnnie Peyton performing a skit and leader a group of cancer survivors in the song “We Are The World;” Dr. Robin Williams, a breast cancer surgeon; Dr. Hilda Davis-Carroll, a cancer physician; 40th Avenue Church of Christ Ambassadors Singers; Jackson Street Church of Christ Chorus; and others.
Testimonials will be offered by cancer survivors including Mattie Hughes, Kathleen Cason and Betty Sanders.
Lori Jack-Seay, one of the organizers of the event, said this is the third year the community has come together for the special fundraiser. She thanked Brother David Meeks and his wife Carolyn Meeks of Market Street Church of Christ for their help in making the event possible and the Market Street Church of Christ for its willingness to “open its doors each year in support of our effort.”
The five organizers of the special day are Lori Jack-Seay, Felicia Wharton, Michael Neal, Sarah McClennon, and Carolyn Meek.
