McDowell named CU Assistant Athletic Director
From Post staff reports
Cumberland University Director of Athletics Ron Pavan announced Meredith McDowell will assume new responsibilities on campus, taking over as Assistant Athletic Director for Fundraising and will also serve as the department’s Senior Women's Administrator, effective October 15.
The Murfreesboro native has worked for the University for five-plus years, including two years as an Admissions Representative, recruiting high school students from 29 counties in the state of Tennessee.
In that role she attended college fairs and high schools to recruit potential students, established relationships with students, parents and guidance counselors and helped organize and conduct student orientation Preview Days on campus.
For the last three years McDowell has worked in the Development Office, serving as Alumni Relations Coordinator. She was responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the University’s alumni program, planned and executed all alumni events, provided executive support for the Alumni Association Board of Directors, initiated all social media activities for the department and worked on the Phoenix Rising magazine.
For the last year she added responsibilities as the Manager of the Annual Fund, raising money for the Cumberland Annual Fund and planning and executing all direct mail and the phonathon.
McDowell earned her bachelor’s in Communications and Public Relations from the University of Tennessee in 2008 and received a master’s in Business Administration from Cumberland in 2011.
She and her husband, Jim -- the boy’s basketball coach at Lebanon High, are expecting their first child in December.
