MJ baseball re-scheduled

Tonights winner advances to the BlueCross Spring Fling next week in Murfreesboro. Brentwood is coming off a 4-3 loss to Centennial High in the 6AAA finals.

Down 1-0 to Rossview, the Golden Bears seized the lead in the bottom of the frame with four runs on Marshall Gei's two-out, two-run double and an RBI single from catcher Chris Johnston.

Trailing 5-1, Rossviews Kevin Kane reached on an error in the top of the fourth and Janson Roberson drew a walk. Truman Brown roped a double up the middle that scored a pair and the Bears lead shrunk to 5-3.

At this point, MJ Coach Jim Carter pulled his starter, Marshall Gei, for Brandon Smith who recorded back-to-back strikeouts to end the threat.

Rossview tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the sixth on a base hit by Venn Biter.

Mt. Juliets Carr led off the sixth with a base hit. Two batters later he stole second, setting up Amitys line single through the shortstop hole for the go-ahead run.

Austin Smith retired Rossview in order to get the save for winning pitcher Brandon Smith.
