MJ girl dies after tonsillectomy

From Post staff reports

A 2-year-old Mt. Juliet girl died after undergoing a tonsillectomy almost two weeks ago.

The child, Avalyn Shaye Bright, suffered from sleep apnea and had had a bout with strep throat. However, there were complications that occurred after she underwent the procedure to remove her tonsils and adenoids.

According to report from a Nashville TV station, the child’s mother is eight months pregnant with her second child.

A prayer vigil was to be held at Victory Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet on Monday. A funeral for the child will be held Thursday, March 25 at Bond Memorial Chapel, also in Mt. Juliet.

A fund to help the family with medical bills and funeral costs has been established. If you would like to make a donation, you may do so at any branch of SunTrust Bank.
