MJ teams, FCS baseball headed to BlueCross Spring Fling

Mt. Juliet 9, Overton 0MT. JULIET -- Senior Caleb Chowbay dominated Overton Friday night, tossing a complete game two-hitter as Mt. Juliet handled the Bobcats 9-0 in a Class AAA sectional.

Chowbay struck out six as the Golden Bears return to the BlueCross Spring Fling for the sixth time duner the tenure of Coach Mark Purvis with a record of 38-4.

Forrest Goodwin, Zach Tompkins and Hunter Gilbert each had two hits drove in a piar of runs for the winners.

Mt. Juliet will play Tuesday at Siegel High vs. Knoxville Farragut (34-7). First pitch is set for around 7 p.m. Junior Campbell Scholl (5-0) will pitch for the Golden Bears.

SoftballMt. Juliet 7, Overton 3MT. JULIET -- Taking advantage of 11 walks and five errors, Mt. Juliet defeated Nashville Overton 7-3 Friday in a Class AAA sectional -- earning first year head coach Brad Rowlett a trip to the BlueCross Spring Fling.

The Lady Bears improved to 34-13-1 on the season and will be paired up against Munford (36-10) Tuesday at the Murfreesboro Starplex. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. Bracted with Mt. Juliet is Soddy Daisy (42-4) and Daniel Boone (44-4).

Softball Silverdale Baptist 1, Friendship Christian 0LEBANON -- Silverdale scratched out a run in the top of the seventh inning and hung on for a 1-0 victory Saturday morning over Friendship Christian in a Class A sectional softball game.

Silverdale improved to 19-14 on the season while FCS closed out the 2012 campaign with a record of 24-15.

Silverdale's Katie Henderson threw a complete game two-hitter, striking out 14 with no walks.
