Each schools senior class will graduate on Saturday, May 31 at varied times. The tentative schedule is to hold Mt. Juliets graduation at 10 a.m., Wilson Centrals at 3 p.m. and Lebanon Highs at 7 p.m.At present time, it appears that the move will also be more cost effective for the school system. Wilson Central and Mt. Juliet High have traditionally held their graduations off-campus. Last year, Mt. Juliet High School paid $9,018.63 to hold graduation at Murphy Center plus an additional $600 for use of the Jumbotron screen. Using the Municipal Auditorium for one day for those three schools makes it less expensive to rent. When we divide that fee it becomes more affordable, Setterlund explained.Rental for the Municipal Auditorium for all three schools for that one date is $8,000. Setterlund said an additional amount will be paid to supply security services and sound equipment rolling the amount to over $15,000. The only issue Setterlund possibly foresees at this point in planning is parking.
He said the Metro Courthouse Garage holds 1,000 parking spaces for $3 per car and that other parking lots are available in Nashville. We are going to survey parents and see if they would be interested in utilizing the Music City Star if we could get a special schedule running from Lebanon on that day, Setterlund added.Staff Writer Sabrina Garrett may be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
