Mt. Juliet home burns in early morning blaze

Early Tuesday morning, a home located at 2525 S. Mt. Juliet Road was severely damaged in a fire with an unknown cause according to Wilson County Emergency Management Agency Director John Jewell.
Jewell said WEMA received the call about 2:25 a.m. this morning and noted that a neighbor "heard an explosion or a loud noise" before seeing the home next door already heavily engulfed in the flames. WEMA personnel from Stations 3, 4 and 5 responded to the scene and Jewell said a tanker truck from Station 1 in Lebanon also responded.
"The house was a total loss, it was about 70 percent involved," Jewell said.
No one was home at the time of the fire and Jewell said no one was injured in the blaze. He said they managed to save some out-buildings and removed a vehicle from the carport.
The fire's cause is unknown at this time and Jewell said that is under investigation by the Wilson County Sheriff's Department and the State Fire Marshal's Office.
