A party reportedly got out of hand late Saturday night in Statesville and one man was shot and killed.
Darrell “Crow” Sloan, 38, of Lebanon, was ruled dead on the scene and a preliminary autopsy found his death to be from multiple shotgun wounds at close range.
Wilson County Sheriff Terry Ashe said Eddie Goode, who was the party’s host at the home at 155 Knight’s Creek but who is not the owner of the house, called the Wilson County Sheriff’s Department early Sunday morning after he said he woke up to find Sloan dead in the game room.
Ashe said that although Sloan was killed by a shotgun, more than one weapon was fired. The full autopsy had not been completed as of press time.
“We do know that this was a party with drugs, alcohol, weapons and women,” Ashe said. “We are familiar with these people and have had past dealings with them.”
The sheriff added, “This is a senseless killing. We are working every angle to find out what happened that night.”
Ashe said that several persons have been interviewed but they have given conflicting statements. He also said that although no arrests had been made yet in the case, investigators were not ruling anyone out.
Search warrants were issued and authorities found a truck that was taken from Sloan’s home. Authorities were trying to determine whether the truck by force. It was found in a creek behind the home of one of the persons interviewed by investigators.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and other agencies are assisting in the investigation.
