Near record heat later this week
High temperatures in the Nashville area will increase from the mid 90s on Wednesday to between 101 and 103 by Friday. Temperatures expected late this week could easily tie or break records with the high in Nashville on Friday expected to reach 103 degrees, a record set for June 29 in 1952.
Hot weather safety is crucial when temperatures are expected to reach over 100 degrees. WEMA advises avoiding long-term exposure to the heat by remaining indoors during the hottest part of the day.
If you must be outside, be sure not to overexert yourself and drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids. Also, wear lightweight, loose fitting clothes.
Todays high is only expected to be in the mid-80s.
