He retired as a procurement officer for the Tennessee Army National Guard and was a member of the College Hills Church of Christ, where he was an active participant in their Life Group Program.
Former Chairman of the Lebanon Airport Authority, Mr. Butler loved airplanes, loved to fly, and earned his private pilot’s license at a young age. As a civil servant, he was active in the Civil Air Patrol. He shared his passion of flying with both of his sons. Later in life, he loved spending time camping in his motor home with his wife and friends.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 52 years Delores Jean Gilliam and children Blake Bryan (Karen) of Shelbyville, Edward Neal (Christine) of Ethridge and his Jennifer Jean (Wesley) Petrouske of Nashville.
In addition, he is survived by grandchildren Kaylee, Evan and Lauren Petrouske and step grandchildren Emma and Leah Dietrich.
