New coach hired at MJCA
GOODPASTURE ASSISTANT, US ARMY VETERAN
MT. JULIET -- Goodpasture Christian School assistant coach Mark Harrison has been hired as the new head football coach at Mt. Juliet Christian Academy.
A former linebacker at Austin Peay State University, Harrison replaces Paul Townsend resigned recently to become an assistant coach at Wilson Central High School.
A 1998 graduate of Austin Peay, he is retired after 20-plus years service as a Special Forces member of the US Army. Harrison has 10 years of coaching experience in football and basketball and for the last three years, has served as an assistant coach for Goodpasture, working with linebackers, tight ends and defensive line. In addition to leading the Saints football team, Harrison will teach Physical Education and Weight Training.
“MJCA is extremely fortunate to have a coach the caliber of Mark Harrison. He has a solid playing and coaching background and is especially gifted at relating to students as evidenced by his selection as Goodpasture’s Teacher of the Year last school year. He brings knowledge, determination and boundless enthusiasm to our program that we feel will set the stage for future success," said MJCA athletic director Paul Christensen.
"I am thrilled to have this opportunity to be a part of the athletic department at MJCA. I am most excited about getting to know our players and their parents and to begin the process of working together toward a successful program”.
Harrison and his wife Nancy are the parents of three sons Evan (20), Reese (18) and Brady (16).
