Wilson Central (6-6) split  pair of games with Hendersonville High Monday, winning 18-5 on the road and losing 8-7 in Gladeville.

The win at Hendersonville, played in the pouring rain, clinched third place in the league for the Wildcats who closed out the regular season with a mark of 15-17.

In District 7AAA Lebanon will play at Oakland Friday night on one side of the bracket with four more teams playing at top-seeded Cookeville Friday.

First round winners will square off Saturday with first round losers meeting for elimination games that same day.

Watertown High secured a first round bye in the District 8A tournament set next week at league champion Friendship Christian School with a 12-11 victory over Gordonsville Monday at Crump Paris Park in South Carthage.

“Everybody was hitting,” said Purple Tiger coach Larry Grissim, “it started to rain in the bottom of the fourth, but we just kept playing. The conditions were far from ideal, but we needed to get that game wrapped up.”

Ryan Rich, who finished with a 4-for-5 day at the plate, scored the game winner in the top of the eighth when a sacrifice bunt bunt off the bat of Brian Jennings was thrown away. WHS improved to 8-11 overall and 7-3 in league play.

No. 3 seeded Gordonsville will host No. 6 seed Mt. Juliet Christian Academy in Friday’s first round while No. 4 Westmoreland is set to host No. 5 Trousdale County.

Friendship will draw the lowest remaining seed on Monday while Watertown will play the highest remaining seed.
