LOSER OF TODAY'S GAME GOES HOME HENDERSONVILLE -- Wilson Central and Mt. Juliet High are scheduled to meet today in the elimination round of the District 9AAA softball tournament. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m. at Veterans Park. The Lady Wildcats (28-8) picked two wins on Tuesday, defeating LaVergne 4-2 and Hendersonville 3-1 to reach the finals of the loser’s bracket. Junior pitcher Leevie Greenwood recorded wins in both games -- throwing a two-hitter against LaVergne and a five-hiiter against Hendersonville. Kristyn Clark ripped a two-run homer vs. LaVergne while Courtney Billington opened the Hendersonville game with a solo HR. Mt. Juliet fell into the loser’s bracket with an 8-5 loss to Beech Tuesday. Beech led 3-0 until the Lady Bears rallied with four runs in the bottom of the fourth -- thanks in part to a three-run homer off the bat of Megan Lavery. Beech took control with five more runs in the top of the fifth. Mt. Juliet fell to 27-9 with the loss. This afternoon’s winner will earn a berth in next week’s Region 5AAA tournament and will advance to the district finals tonight at 7:30 p.m. vs. Beech. |
