Do you remember Grandpa keeping bees when you were a child?

Have you been thinking about keeping bees to help your garden? Well, the Wilson County Beekeepers Association will be offering a three-night course in beginning beekeeping. This class will be from 7 until 9 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 19 through Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center/Wilson County Fairgrounds in the Education. Tuesday and Wednesday night will be a classroom setting with valuable information and Thursday will be a hands-on program in building a complete beehive ready to use.

The cost of the three-night class will be $25 per person or $45 per couple. This cost will include a one-year membership in the WCBA, a one-year membership in the Tennessee Beekeepers Association and a copy of “Beekeeping for Dummies.”

As class size is limited, be sure to contact Petra Mitchell at 286-2529 by Jan. 16, 2010 to reserve your seat for this program, or if you have any questions.

The first meeting of 2010 for WCBA is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. in the West Building at the Ward Ag Center. As always, the meetings are open to the public, and you are more than welcome to attend.
