In 2009, Sherry’s Run raised $201,000 in one of the most challenging economies in recent history. This is a testament to the more that 3,100 participants who realize that it takes more than courage to beat cancer. Sherry’s Run is a 5K Run/Walk event held each year in Lebanon.

“The unprecedented success of the 2009 campaign is a testament to everyone who participated. With their commitment and support we are truly making a significant difference in the lives of local cancer patients,” said Gary Whitaker, a Sherry’s Run board member.

“We salute all of our sponsorship partners, participants and volunteers with our heartfelt thanks.  This outpouring of generosity allows Sherry’s Run to accomplish our mission of helping cancer victims in their time of need. If we can help one person in the whole world it will be worth it; because, one person is the whole world to somebody,” he added.

Sherry’s Run funds go to help individuals and their families during some of the hardest times of their lives. Whitaker noted, “We are committed to being good stewards of the funds donated. We agree that more research dollars are needed, and support that; but, we also realize that there are folks in our own community who need our help and it is important that we help them. This mission, coupled with our emphasis on education and early detection, offers a multitude of ways to make a difference right here at home.”
