Bulldogs edging closer to another championship

Tweet By SAM HATCHER     School's out, Memorial Day has passed and for many the days of summer have begun.     But before we move too quickly into summer there's still some unfinished business for Woody Hunt and his Cumberland University baseball team.     Coach Hunt, a living legend in college baseball, is currently in Lewiston, Idaho with his nationally ranked Bulldogs competing in the NAIA World Series. By SAM HATCHER     School's out, Memorial Day has passed and for many the days of summer have begun.     But before we move too quickly into summer there's still some unfinished business for Woody Hunt and his Cumberland University baseball team.     Coach Hunt, a living legend in college baseball, is currently in Lewiston, Idaho with his nationally ranked Bulldogs competing in the NAIA World Series.     Cumberland, ranked number two in the nation going into the tournament, has met little resistance in its first two games. The Bulldogs were playing their third game at press time last night.     For the season, the Bulldogs have managed a record of 55 wins and only 9 losses.     There are eight teams competing in the national tournament, an affair for which Coach Hunt is no stranger. This is the 11th trip Coach Hunt has made to the World Series in his 29 years as Cumberland's head coach. Cumberland won the championship in 2004 and was the runner-up in 1995 and 2006.     By the end of the week Coach Hunt and his Bulldogs may have another championship wrapped-up. We wish them the best of luck as they continue to move through the NAIA World Series championship brackets.    Local radio station WANT-FM/WCOR-AM is broadcasting each game.
