Dear Ken: Regarding the legendary singer Lena Horne, who recently passed, did she make many movies? The silky-voiced Horne, who died May 9 at age 92, appeared in numerous films as a singer but only acted in a hand full of films between 1938 and 1978. Her seven silver screen credits as an actress include “The Duke Is Tops,” “Cabin in the Sky,” “Stormy Weather,” “Broadway Rhythm,” “Till the Clouds Roll by,” “Death of a Gunfighter” and “The Wiz.” She played Glinda the Good Witch in the latter. Horne released an autobiography in 1965 titled simply “Lena.” Dear Ken: Regarding the legendary singer Lena Horne, who recently passed, did she make many movies? Dion Francis DiMucci, 70, lives in Boca Raton, Fla., where he has been serving in a prison ministry to men going through addiction recovery. "I love working with men," he said. "They are in search for truth, but coming to accept it and living by it is a whole different thing. Faith helps you focus, and prayer is the substance of my life. It is what keeps me on track. It keeps me hopeful and centered, and it gives me wisdom," The pop star had 13 Top-20 hits between 1959 and 1968 including “A Teenager in Love,” “Where or When,” “Lonely Teenager,” “Runaround Sue,” “The Wanderer,” “Little Diane,” “Ruby Baby” and “Drip Drop.” He continues to perform and has about 12 concert dates in June and July. |
