To the Editor: I recently attended the 2010 Convening the Region Summit hosted by Cumberland Region Tomorrow (CRT), the Nashville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the Tennessee Department of Transportation. For the second year in a row, the summit focused on the importance of bringing all 10 counties in Middle Tennessee together to address the challenges and opportunities facing our region. At the summit, the Nashville MPO unveiled its 2035 Regional Transportation Plan, laying the groundwork for a vigorous discussion on the best transportation options for our region over the next 25 years. Dozens of community leaders signed a commitment to continue to work together on this issue. With the plan now available for public review, we can officially begin a substantive regional conversation about our future transportation options, and CRT will continue to play a leading role in that effort.
