Dog days are here early.

It's usually not until August that we begin to talk about the dog days of summer, but as we've found with our weather patterns this year, the out of ordinary has become the usual.

Think about it. A winter that produced more snow and colder temperatures than normal followed by a spring rain that broke all previous records and caused millions upon millions of dollars in flood damage.

And now this heat.

Please heed the warnings. Take precautions and take the outside temperatures seriously.

Heat can be very dangerous. It can cause sickness and claim lives. Follow what we are told with respect to dealing with heat.

Dress appropriately, drink plenty of liquids, don't overdo work routines and stay in the cool when possible.

If you know someone who needs to be placed in a cool environment, please do not hesitate to call local law enforcement, a local church or any agency that may be in a position to help. In doing so you may be saving a life.
