Get Ready, Set . . . GO!

By Angel Kane

This Saturday, September 11th, Wilson Living Magazine will be on hand with hundreds of other Wilson County neighbors as we participate in the 7th Annual Sherry’s Run. The event starts at 6 a.m., with the 5k Run/Walk beginning at 8 a.m. on the grounds of Wilson Bank & Trust on West Main Street.

The 5k Run/Walk is held in honor of Sherry Whitaker, who after her valiant efforts, lost her battle with colon cancer in May of 2004. Sherry was a wife and mother here in Wilson County and was known by the community for her outgoing spirit and positive outlook. Soon after her passing, her friends approached her husband, Gary Whitaker, with the possibility of organizing a fundraiser in her memory to benefit research and treatment of colon cancer. With the family’s support, the event became a reality and in the last five years has raised over $437,000.00 in Sherry’s memory.

This year’s 5k Run/Walk is expected to raise even more funds necessary to help those in the community that continue to suffer from this disease.

Wilson Living participated last year and will be on hand again this year with our Wilson Living Team Members. All ages can participate for a entrance fee of $25 for those who do not need a chip to keep up with their time or $30 for those who do.

The Race Map can be found on the website at www.sherrysrun.org. If you are not on a team and want to sign up, you can join teams on-line or call 400-2032 or 975-1081 or 218-8810.

And after the event, don’t miss Lebanon Town Square Celebrates Giving Back to Volunteers from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. immediately following Sherry’s Run. The event held on Lebanon’s Historic Square, in partnership with Historic Lebanon Tomorrow, will also benefit Sherry’s Run. Those who come out to share the experience, will enjoy food vendors, activities for kids, entertainment and sidewalk sales.

It will be a fantastic opportunity to enjoy all of the great stores located on Lebanon’s Historic Square and to meet your neighbors. For more information in either participating or attending this event to go ww.LebanonTownSquareCelebrates.org.

We hope to see all of you there. Until next time, keep reading!
