Wilson County Emergency Management Agency, in conjunction with several other county agencies will be together on Tuesday, April 22 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Lakeview Community of West Wilson County. This is being held to better prepare all of our agencies for response to events and emergencies throughout Wilson County. Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, Wilson County Sheriff Office, Wilson County Schools, and Lebanon Special School District, along with other county agencies, will participate in this exercise. This is a test of plans and capabilities and not a full scale operational exercise. It will involve only this area of Wilson County. WEMA will be testing communications, notification procedures, and other aspects of emergency operations. Participants will be practicing working together to better assist the citizens of Wilson County in the event of an actual emergency. Also, Bridgestone Firestone will be showcasing their emergency response team, and equipment, which are based in Wilson County, as they operate in a simulated disaster atmosphere. WEMA is advising citizens within the county and especially northwest Wilson County that various county agencies and equipment will be working in and around the Lakeview area for the exercise. Operations will center on the area around Saundersville and Saundersville Ferry Roads. While only a small portion of Wilson County will be impacted by this exercise, the lessons learned Tuesday will better equip county agencies should an emergency event occur anywhere in the county. |
