Lebanon Police arrested a man and charged him with theft in connection with repair work done to a home of an elderly woman here. Roger Wayne Hendren, 49, of Daphne, Ala. was arrested Wednesday and charged with theft of property over $1,000 involving floor leveling and support work done to the home of an elderly lady, said Det. Koy Lafferty. Hendren was also wanted by authorities in Bay Minette, Ala. on a charge of theft by deception, first degree, and by authorities in Pascagoula, Miss. on a charge of fraud. Lafferty said representatives from the police agencies in those two locations will come to get Hendren when local officials have completed their case against him. Hendren was reportedly doing home repair work under the name of H and H Foundation Repair in Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi and Alabama and most recently has been in Middle Tennessee, including the Lebanon area. Hendren reportedly advertised in newspapers, on radio and by knocking on the doors of local residents. Lafferty said he wanted to urge everyone “to be on the alert” for activities such as this, noting they often occur this time of year as the weather turns warmer. He said elderly citizens of the community should also be aware of people knocking on their doors and offering to do home repairs of some kind. Hendren is being held in the Wilson County Jail under a fugitive from justice warrant. |
