By JENNIFER HORTON A well-known business owner was charged with two counts of sexual battery after an indictment was handed down by the grand jury on Wednesday. Haywood P. Norman, 61, owner of Uncle Pete’s Truck Stop on Sparta Pike, Lebanon, was booked into the Wilson County Jail Wednesday afternoon. Lebanon Police Det. Donnie Self said the charges are one count of sexual battery by fraud and one count sexual battery by an authority figure. The case was presented to the grand jury on Monday and an indictment was returned about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Self said the investigation into the case began in November 2008 and involved a 15-year-old female juvenile. The charges stem, he said, from the “inappropriate touching of private areas deemed by statute,” In addition, the detective said, the 15-year-old female was an employee at Uncle Pete’s which is how the charge of sexual battery by an authority figure was determined. As of 3:15 p.m., Wednesday, Norman remained in custody under a bond of $10,000. Editor Jennifer Horton may be contacted at
