The letter was a pleasant birthday gift for the dealership which will celebrate its 83rd birthday on Wednesday. Bone’s father, the late Winstead Bone, Jr., opened the dealership in 1927 on the day he graduated from Cumberland University with his law degree, Bone said.
He said the dealership also received a “Letter of Agreement” from GM which said the dealership will need to sell more vehicles and maintain an even higher inventory than it has in the past. “I think this is a vote of confidence for the dealership,” he said. “But even more important, I think it is a vote of confidence for Lebanon and Wilson County’s economy and for our customers.” The letter from GM said the company’s restructuring includes “plans for fewer, stronger and more properly located dealers.” Finally the letter said, “Please understand that, going forward, GM strongly believes it needs your dealership, as a top performer, in the Chevrolet, Buick Dealer network.” Which suits Bone, he said, since he really enjoys the work he does. “We work hard. We enjoy what we do. I especially enjoy the people who come through or store. What a treat they are.” Wilson County Motors continues to be a family tradition as Bone’s daughter and two sons both work in the business.
