Officials with Nissan met Tuesday at the Wilson County location of a new warehouse for site preparation, officials said yesterday.

Wilson County Joint Economic & Community Development Board Executive Director G.C. Hixson said Tuesday that the consolidation of a Nissan distribution center and warehouse from Rutherford to Wilson County began this week when developers and contractors met at the southeast corner of Couchville Pike and State Route 840 for site preparation.

Hixson said Wilson County will receive an “immediate benefit” of increased property tax revenue from the $30 million investment. He added that the warehouse is slated to be 717,000 square feet with the possibility of increasing up to some 1.2 million square feet in the future.

“This expansion will bring new jobs to the area at that time,” Hixson said, noting that there are around 180 jobs now in Rutherford County which will be transferred to the Couchville Pike Business Center.
