WATERTOWN -- Come rain or shine, Saturday morning marks the 24th edition of the Watertown Spring Mile-Long Yard Sale.

That means by 7 a.m., the 2 miles of Main Street will overflow from one end to the other with more items, new and old, than you can shake a walking stick at. And shoppers may need a walking stick (and shoppers very well may be able buy one somewhere along the way).

“This could be the biggest one we’ll ever have," said yard sale Coordinator Jim Amero. "We've filled all the spaces given to us almost at this point. There will be everything from A to Z. Also, all local shops will be open including a new shop, Thumbelina's Antiques and Gifts."

As for diversions for younger ages, Amero said that Little Critters will have numerous activities for kids, such as inflatables, a trampoline, a wall climb and bull riding (not a real bull). Along Central Avenue there will be pony rides (real ponies), and underneath the pavilion by the railroad tracks kiddos can get airbrushed tattoos and face paintings.

Besides locals selling goods, dealers from more than three states and two dozen Tennessee towns will be set up to offer children's clothing, jeans, belts, embroideries as well as antiques, bric-a-brac, bling jewelry and Watertown-themed T-shirts, tote bags and sunglasses.

And, Amero pointed out, "You won't go hungry." That's because cooks will be peddling burgers, hot dogs, roasted corn, BBQ, pork rinds, chicken on a stick, walking tacos, Dippin’ Dots, Cajun cuisine and cool treats from Baskin-Robbins.

Amero, who has been training assistant Brooke Pulley so she can eventually take over the task of organizing the twice-a-year event, advised bargain hunters to "get here early. The yard sale will stop when the flow of traffic stops coming through town, usually between 3 and 6 p.m."
