A Davidson County man is being held in Wilson County Jail on two theft charges after he reportedly stole a John Deere Gator from a Mt. Juliet resident and is also alleged to be responsible for thefts in multiple counties.
Dustin Nicholson, 19, of Wildview Drive, Nashville, was arrested on Thursday, July 5, along with his brother, Jason, for a theft scheme that had the brothers allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of property.
Lt. Ricky Knight of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Department said Nicholson reportedly responded to a Craigslist ad by a Mt. Juliet resident looking to sell the John Deere Gator.
“The suspect offered to swap a boat for the Gator and when he delivered the boat and picked up the Gator, the victim thought something was strange about the deal and notified the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency,” Knight said.
Knight said the TWRA determined the boat was stolen and Knight executed two search warrants at Nicholson’s Wildview Drive residence and recovered the Gator. Also, Davidson County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Jason Nicholson on Drummond Drive in Davidson County.
Knight said the Davidson Sheriff’s Department recovered tens of thousands of dollars worth of property and are still trying to identify the proper owners.
Dustin Nicholson is charged with Theft of Property over $1,000 for the stolen Gator and Theft of Property over $10,000 for the boat, which Knight said was stolen in Davidson County, but brought into Wilson County.
“He’ll probably be facing additional charges in Davidson County,” Knight said.
Dustin Nicholson is being held on $50,000 bond and is to appear in court Thursday morning.
