MJ nods fire dept., hiring of chief
Tuesday, September 25, 2012

From Post staff reports

Mt. Juliet City Commission gave the final approval on reinstating the city fire department Monday night and voted to fund a fire chief position.

The department is expected to be up and running by July 2013 when construction of a new fire station in the Providence area is to be completed. The city plans to hire a fire chief by Jan. 1, 2013.

No new property taxes are required at this time to fund the department as the city plans to use revenues generated from the current 20-cent property tax to meet the needs of the new fire department.
