A student at West Elementary reportedly died Friday after a brief illness.

Sam McLeod, 9, passed away Friday morning at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

McLeod reportedly died from a non-contagious form of bacterial meningitis.

Wilson County Schools Deputy Director Mickey Hall said there was no immediate health risk to students at West Elementary.
