|CU gears up for Homecoming 2012|

Cumberland University will bring in its Homecoming 2012 weekend on Oct. 5-6 with fun-packed festivities as members of the campus and Lebanon communities come together to reconnect with alumni, friends and faculty.
From Bulldog Football to the Dawg Dash, Cumberland’s Homecoming activities will offer something for everyone. This year’s events will include children’s activities, reunions, the 3rd annual Dawg Dash, tailgating, Bulldog Football and more.
Homecoming 2012 will kick off on Friday, Oct. 5, with a host of events including the Annual Sports Hall of Fame Dinner and Alumni Party on the Patio.
Honoring the 26th Hall of Fame class, the Annual Sports Hall of Fame Dinner will be held in Baird Chapel from 6-8 p.m. For tickets and further information, contact Jo Jo Freeman, Cumberland’s director of sports information, at 547-1350.
Cumberland alumni are also invited to take part in the Alumni Party on the Patio. Starting at 7 p.m. on the patio of the Catron Alumni House, the party will provide alums with a night of music, food, drinks and reunions.
Events will continue apace on Saturday, Oct. 6, as Cumberland holds a number of festivities including the 3rd Annual Dawg Dash 5k Run/Walk, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Local community members, alumni, and friends are all encouraged to participate in the run/walk, which benefits student scholarships. Tickets are $15 for Cumberland students and children ages 8-18 and $20 for those ages 19 and up. To take part in the event, register at www.active.com and search for Cumberland University.
The university will also host a special Baseball Alumni Breakfast beginning that morning at 8, followed by an alumni game.
The fun will continue at 11 a.m. as tailgating begins outside of Nokes-Lasater Stadium prior to the Bulldogs’ kick-off against Union College. Guests will enjoy free food, live music, games, giveaways and more before the football face-off begins.
Homecoming 2012 will conclude with memories and dining in a special Junior College Years Reunion Dinner for Cumberland alumni. Beginning at 6 p.m. in Baird Chapel, the dinner event will include a reception, music, dancing and more. For more information, visit www.reunion.cumberland.edu.
Members of the Lebanon community are encouraged to take part in the festivities. Whether running in the Dawg Dash, cheering on Cumberland’s Bulldogs during the game, or just taking in some live music and free food, community visitors will find a plethora of things to do at Homecoming.
