Lebanon burglary suspect nabbed

A man suspected of breaking into a home and stealing several items, including cash, was arrested a short time later and charged with burglary.

Lebanon Police Officer Paul Scheppf made the arrest after responding to a call at 515 Melrose Ave., on Saturday. The officer spoke to the victim who said someone had forced open the rear door to her residence. The suspect entered her home and took several items along with cash.

Later during the day, Scheppf went to a vacant house at 523 Melorse Ave. While checking the house, he noticed a suspect sleeping inside. Scheppf immediately recognized items previously reported as stolen from 515 Melrose Ave., which were located near the sleeping suspect, identified as Nicholas R. Jones.

All items reported stolen were recovered and returned to the victim.

Jones remains in the Wilson County Jail on $2,500 bond. He was charged with aggravated burglary, theft of property under $1,000, vandalism under $500 and criminal trespassing.
