Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at the College Hills Church of Christ for Mr. Billy Lee Cartmell, 64. Born Feb. 25, 1948, he died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 in Murfreesboro following a battle with cancer.

Retired from Parker Seals, he was one of the driving forces behind AAU basketball in Lebanon, serving as general manager and coach of the well known Tennessee Trojans organization. Mr. Cartmell coached in all age groups from Junior Pro to the past several seasons as head coach of the Carroll Oakland boy's team.

"Billy really cared about the kids," said Wilson County Executive Randall Hutto. Back when Hutto was coaching boy's basketball at Lebanon High, he saw firsthand Mr. Cartmell's influence on local athletes.
