A Walkathon to raise money for a local woman has been scheduled for Sunday, March 10.

The walk is scheduled to begin at Sports Village in Lebanon at 1 p.m. Organizer Ralph Lorenzo has asked that participants pledge $1 for every mile that he walks in recipient Della William’s behalf.

Della, a longtime secretary at Discount Motors had a heart attack in February and after testing, doctors also found a fungal disease in her lungs and stage four cancer in her liver.

Her doctor has told Della that he must treat the fungus in her lungs with antibiotics before he can treat her cancer with chemotherapy; however, the antibiotics cost $899 and Della cannot receive any financial assistance because of her insurance.

“I can’t tell you how brave and patient Della is with her situation. She is out many day of work and lives alone struggling to keep her bills paid,” said Lorenzo. “I feel that God brought Della back to lot-5 (of Discount Motors) so that he would put us in a position to help her.”

Donations for the cause will be accepted at any Regions Bank branch under the name Della F. Williams.
