Cooksey’s remains exhumed

The vault and casket containing the remains of a man now believed to have been murdered 40 years ago was exhumed from Wilson County Memorial Park on Wednesday for an autopsy using more up-to-date technology to determine the actual cause of death.

City Council to buy trucks locally, denies Emergency Chipper Service

With the City of Lebanon and Wilson County struggling to find revenue, Lebanon City Council decided to start buying local at Tuesday night’s regular meeting.

Ward 6 Councilor Kathy Warmath brought up the point that the city was in the process of buying three pickup trucks for the gas and sewer departments. The bids that were to be accepted were from a dealership in Nashville.

Sweden’s Permobil breaks ground in Wilson County

Permobil, Inc., an international company that is the world’s leading manufacturer of custom-made powered wheelchairs, will build its new $12 million North American Operations Center in Lebanon on a 17-acre site located in Park 840.

Groundbreaking ceremonies for the project were held Tuesday at the site.

Sorey challenges Budget Committee, wife wins husband’s vacated commission seat

How to fund a new Lebanon High School was once again a topic of discussion at Monday night’s Wilson County Commission meeting with one commissioner telling a committee chair to figure out how to pay for a new school.

Wilson County voters went to the polls on Oct. 1 to vote on whether to raise the wheel tax by $25 to fund the construction and purchase land for a new Watertown High School. Voters turned down the increase.

Wilson County Health Department to offer H1N1 vaccine

Wilson County Health Department will offer H1N1 injectable vaccine during clinics on Wednesday, Oct. 21 and Thursday, Oct. 22 from 4 to 8:00 p.m. 

To make an appointment, call 444-5325. The H1N1 flu vaccine will be provided at no charge.
