Magic, in barrel races. She took him from an untrained pony to one of the up-and-coming horses that was admired by all who watched him run.

Watertown gets new businesses in time for Mile-Long Yard Sale

Watertown Mile-Long Yard Sale marks its 21 year this Saturday, and there are some new editions to the historic town Square to help celebrate the event.

There have been eight new businesses that have started in Watertown in the past six months, including two that will have their grand opening on Saturday in time to catch all of the yard sale patrons.

Jobless rate inches upward in August

Wilson County’s unemployment rate rose 0.4 percent in August to 9.5 percent, said officials with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Wilson’s July unemployment rate was 9.1 percent.

AMBER ALERT ISSUED

An endangered / missing child alert has been issued for the state by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

A pair of sisters, 11-year old Sierra Nicole Hess and 12-year old Keara Lasha Hess have been reported missing from their home in Moorsville, NC and are believed to be traveling in the company of their adoptive father Matthew Hess.

They are reported to be traveling in a 1993 green Ford Explorer with NC license plates YTE-8014 or XTC-5272.

Matthew Hess, 40, is a white male roughly 5’10, 190 pounds. He has a tatoo of a blue devil on his upper right arm, a tatoo of a heart with a ribbon on his upper left arm and tatoo of a blue dragon on his left forearm.

National Alpaca Farm Day at Fairgrounds on Saturday

They are soft, cute, unusual, and slowly taking over Tennessee.

They are alpacas and on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center/Wilson County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Tennessee Alpaca Association will hold its National Alpaca Farm Day.

Farm Day has been going on for several years, but it was never at one place. Instead, people were given directions to individual farms to go and ask questions and see the animals.
