Annual 'Pow Wow' planned Sept. 26-27

The public is invited to celebrate Native American culture at the 28th annual Mt. Juliet Pow Wow on Sept. 26-27 at Charlie Daniels Park.

The Pow Wow is especially meaningful this year, organizers said, as Gov. Phil Bredesen has signed a bill by the legislature making September “American Indian Heritage Month” in Tennessee.

In this spirit, Wilson County’s largest grassroots cancer fundraising organization is truly making a difference in the lives of those who are battling cancer. The funds raised go to help cancer patients who are hurting right here in Wilson County.

New chipper service schedule to start this week

City of Lebanon Public Works Department would like to remind all citizens of the new schedule for the residential chipper service program.

Commissioner of Public Works Jeff Baines said he wanted citizens to be sure that they know about the new schedule and reminded of some older rules.

Drugs, weapons seized at Lebanon home

What was suppose to be a simple serving of a domestic assault warrant turned up drugs and firearms in a home located on Phillips Road in rural Wilson County.

On Wednesday, Wilson County Sheriff Deputy Steve Gatlin attempted to serve the warrant on Travis Ray Hogg, 34, at 2404-A Phillips Road in north Lebanon just off Hartsville Pike. Gatlin noticed a strong odor of what he though was marijuana coming from Hogg.

Guns get cleared up, CoreTech questioned

Lebanon City Council approved on first reading Tuesday night an ordinance from Ward 6 Councilor Kathy Warmath designed clear up any confusion about the so-called “guns in parks” law.

The council opted out of the law at the previous meeting, which kept the ban on handguns in city-owned parks, buildings, etc.
