By BEN DUDLEY The Wilson Post Wilson County Commission is set to approve a budget of $190.8 million for fiscal year 2009-2010 during its regular meeting Monday night at 7. Commission will also vote on a resolution to appropriate the funds and will vote on another measure to set the county property tax rate which remains unchanged at $2.43. |

By BEN DUDLEY The Wilson Post Lebanon finally has a budget for fiscal year 2009-2010 as City Council gave third and final approval on expenditures of $18 million during a special meeting on Wednesday. The budget did not pass without additional comment, however. |

County Commission to vote on gun ban, adequate facilities tax increase |

By BEN DUDLEY The Wilson Post Wilson County Commission is set to vote on a resolution to ban guns in the county’s parks during its regular meeting at 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 17. According to Chapter 428 or the Public Acts of 2009, persons authorized to carry a handgun will be prohibited from possessing guns while within or on public parks owned or operated by the County or an instrumentality. This includes public parks, natural areas, historic parks, nature trails, campgrounds, forests, greenways, waterways or other similar public places. |

Lebanon budget passes second reading |

By BEN DUDLEY The Wilson Post Lebanon City Council approved on second reading an $18 million budget for fiscal year 2009-2010 and the city property tax rate for the new fiscal year of 37 cents at a special meeting Tuesday night. No one spoke up at the public hearing on the budget prior to the meeting. Commissioner of Finance Russell Lee said the carryover for the budget was $240,000. More than $205,000 of that money was used to help balance the budget. |

Wilson home sales continue upward |

From Post staff reports Officials with the Eastern Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors are quite happy with home sales for July as the real estate market here continues on an upswing. “We have more than doubled our monthly closed sales since January and our median sales price has risen by almost $15,000,” said Amy Hamilton, a local real estate agent and member of EMTAR. |
