Inmate dies in county jail |

From Post staff reports An inmate facing charges of attempted first degree murder, failure to appear and tampering with evidence has died of an apparent heart attack while awaiting trial in the Wilson County Jail. Darrius Wilson, a 19-year-old Lebanon man, “had just eaten breakfast and went back to bed complaining of a stomach ache around 7:30 a.m. Monday,” said Assistant Chief Robert Bryan with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Department. Wilson was discovered unresponsive a short time later around 8 a.m. |

Tennessee Commissioner of Labor & Workforce Development James Neeley announced the Tennessee’s unemployment rate for June was 10.8 percent, up 0.1 percentage point from the May rate of 10.7 percent. The June rate a year ago was 6.4 percent. The national unemployment rate for June 2009 was 9.5 percent, up from the May rate of 9.4 percent. |

Walker indicted on theft from Gladeville Utility |

From Post staff reports The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has arrested the former general manager of the Gladeville Water Utility District after he was indicted Wednesday by the Wilson County Grand Jury on numerous counts of theft for stealing from the utility company in 2007. William Clifford Walker, 57, 208 Burgess Road, Mt. Juliet, TN was charged with two counts of Theft Over $60,000, eight counts of Theft Over $10,000 and one count of Official Misconduct. |

MTEMC plans outages July 21 in Lebanon |

Middle Tennessee Electric crews will be working to improve electric service in Lebanon July 21, which will require outages in parts of the city. The scheduled work will require about 200 residences to be without power. The scheduled times for the outages are set to begin at 8 a.m. and last until approximately 12 p.m. |

By SAM HATCHER The Wilson Post Members of the Lebanon City Council have not formally adopted a position on the new “guns in parks” law passed by the state legislature although there appears to be considerable support among council members to not exercise its right to option out of the law. Councilors Kathy Warmath and William Farmer both indicated that they would not want the city to option out of the law, while Alex Buhler said he’s still undecided. |
