Ashe told a Lebanon civic group recently that “places of worship” are likely the “next soft targets” for strikes of violence. |

Church halts mission trip to Honduras |

Two sides face-off on city budget |

By BEN DUDLEY The Wilson Post As the holiday weekend nears, the City of Lebanon finds itself still without an approved budget for the new fiscal year. Although the process is now more than a month late, there has been progress made but by no means is the budget issue resolved, with $519,000 still needed to balance the budget as of June 24. |

Gangs ‘infiltrate,’ threaten area |

Gangs and gang-related crimes have a local presence. That was the message Wilson County Sheriff Terry Ashe delivered Thursday to a Lebanon community service club. Ashe said gangs are responsible now for 80 percent of violent crime across the U.S. and related that gang activity here and in other counties in Middle Tennessee is increasing significantly. |

Wilson County jobless rate climbs again |

From Post staff reports Wilson County’s unemployment rate for May rose 0.5 percent to 9.3 percent, according to figures released Thursday by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The rate in April stood at 8.8 percent. |
