Bone: House passes Adult Care Home Act of 2009

State Rep. Stratton Bone, D-Lebanon, and the Tennessee House of Representatives unanimously passed on Thursday the second of four bills designed to expand retirement opportunities for seniors in Tennessee.

“The seniors of today are living longer and stronger than those just 20 or 30years ago and, as a state, we have a responsibility to provide our greatest generation with different options in how they want to spend retirement,” Bone said.

THP searches for vehicle that struck MJ pedestrian

Tennessee Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s help in locating a vehicle and driver with possible connection to a hit and run crash that seriously injured a female pedestrian on Tuesday, June 2.

At approximately midnight, Monday, June 1, or the very early morning hours of Tuesday, June 2, Lisa K. Wright, 46, from Mt. Juliet, was struck on Highway 109 near Northern Road in Wilson County. Wright was transported by ambulance and then flown by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

Mayor, Councilman differ on budget path

Parties to the process of formulating a new City of Lebanon budget for fiscal 2009-2010 said Thursday they believe the matter is getting closer to being resolved.

“We’re still working. We’re closer than we have been,” Ward 3 Lebanon City Councilor William Farmer said yesterday when asked about the process of balancing Lebanon’s budget.
         
Mayor Philip Craighead, agreeing but hedging to say that he and council members are close to a final budget, said that the council “realize(s) we’re not going to be able to fix this budget by layoffs. It’s going to take more than that.”

Cleanup set for Sinking Creek on Saturday

City, county joins Cumberland River Compact, Old Hickory Watershed Association in effort

The Cumberland River Compact’s Local Officials Curriculum Program is partnering with local municipalities and watershed groups to actively renew Sinking Creek’s health and make a difference in the Old Hickory Watershed, on Saturday June 13, from 9 a.m. until noon. 

This will be the 3rd annual stream clean-up season for the city. The cleanup staging area will be at the Jimmy Floyd Family Center off Castle Heights Avenue in Lebanon.
