Carver Lane set for Monday closure |

The City of Lebanon will be closing Carver Lane, just north of the railroad tracks, on Monday, June 8, from approximately 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., for construction of a force main sewer line. The road will be opened for emergency access only. Thru traffic should avoid this section of Carver Lane during these hours. The construction is being completed by Conrad Construction of Lebanon. |

Bone: House defeats bill increasing selenium in TN streams |

State Rep. Stratton Bone, D-Lebanon, along with 39 other House Democrats and two Republicans, on Wednesday voted down a bill that would have allowed coal mining companies to dump unacceptable levels of selenium into local streams and rivers. |

Council, mayor butt heads on layoffs |

By JENNIFER HORTON The Wilson Post Work sessions on the City of Lebanon’s proposed budget for 2009-2010 have devolved into a test of wills, of sorts, with city councilors seeking the layoffs of several employees who supported the current and former mayors. Ward 2 Councilor Kevin Huddleston produced a list during Wednesday night’s session that targeted City Liaison Sue Akins Siens, hired by former Mayor Don Fox; Personnel Director Bill Durham, a Fox and Craighead supporter; a custodian at City Hall identified by Craighead as the mother of former Ward 2 Councilor Annette Stafford. Stafford was defeated by Huddleston for the council position. |
