Obama wins Presidency
The new president, who many likely had not heard of two years ago, will face a number of issues upon taking office in January, chief among them a sagging economy and the war in Iraq.
McCain, officially conceding the race, appeared on national television at about 10:15 p.m. last night to offer Obama his congratulations and to pledge his support to continue to work in the U.S. Senate for a better America.
McCain carried both Tennessee and Wilson County by large margins but failed to carry states that had been placed in a “must win” category only days before Tuesday’s voting.
The win by Obama shattered expectations by pundits on both sides of the election.
