LEBANON -- Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, April 7 at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home for Mrs. Vantrease, 85, of Lebanon.

A native of Wilson County and a 1943 graduate of Lebanon High School, the retired educator died Sunday, April 5, 2009 at her residence.

She was the daughter of the late Elliott Vaughn and Ruby Woodliff Bradshaw Sr. Mrs. Vantrease was graduated from George Peabody College and was a member of the Laguardo Baptist Church where she was a member of the the Ruth Sunday School Class.

She was very active in the Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Vantrease taught for 38 years, including tenures at Pearl Academy; Oakland; Laguardo and retired from West Elementary where she had taught fifth grade from 1971-1983.

Services were conducted by Rev. Carl Price. Interment followed at the Wilson County Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include: son Charles Vaughn Vantrease; daughter-in-law, Liz Vantrease -- both of Lebanon; grandchildren Kelley (Scot) Crook, Brad (Jessica) Vantrease and Landon Vantrease; great grandchildren Hayden and Ava Crook; nephews James (Teresa) Bradshaw and Mike (Jamie) Bradshaw; and special life time friends Sarah Jennings, Dorothy Jennings, Mary Lena Price, May Stewart and Christine McDaniel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Vantrrease in 1964; and a brother Elliott Vaughn (Oler Belle) Bradshaw.

Honorary pallbearers: Trey Guess, Joseph Williams, Hayden Crook, Peyton Williams, Jacob Davidson, and Calob Davidson.

Active pallbearers: Brad Vantrease, Landon Vantrease, Scot Crook, James Bradshaw, Mike Bradshaw, Jason Bradshaw, Christopher Bradshw, David Wilholt, Shane Williams and Tim Davidson.
